I have seven new Welsh Harlequins! An eighth is trying to hatch and three eggs are not showing any movement, so are probably past the point of hatching.

I’m trying to work out the new arrivals’ genders and I think most of them are quite clear. I think pink and white are girls and the rest are boys. Yellow isn’t fully clear but he was a secret hatch that we only noticed with a head count when moving the rest to the brooder. He’s gone back into the incubator to help the one trying to make its way out.

What do you think about my guesses? Accurate?

Well...
...after searching about the way of sexing Welsh Harlequin ducklings on the Internet, THEN finding that they apparently can be sexed with 90% accuracy thanks to their bill colour...
...you are probably right about your guesses...?

How many ducklings do you have now...?

Eight but the eighth one has an unabsorbed yolk and spraddle legged. I’ve got it hobbled and in a small bowl under heat to see if it will reabsorb the yolk. I wasn’t hopeful at all but it’s very lively.
