So, do you guys think I will succeed at placing my two roosters together. One is a Welsummer and the other is a RIR. I have 11 hens. I already know the rule of 10 hens to 1 rooster. I would like to hear your own experiences and see if you guys have had any success at trying to do this. By the way my chickens stay in a covered run that has perches, which allows them much more room. The run is 9x16. Thanks for your help

It will depend on the nature of your roos. I have 3 coops, 1 roo in each, 10 hens in the largest and 4 hens in each of the smaller coops. Some roos do fine with 4 or 5 hens. I would give it a try, if they grew up together i think you will have better success. Good Luck

If you mean letting them run together, give it a try. I have a Wellie and a Cuckoo Maran that runs with a mixed flock. The Wellie is lower on the class scale, but he still mates when the Maran isn't looking, lol. The Marans is the top, but he tolerates the Wellie. They grew up together.

I am butchering our young Cuckoo Marans roo tonight because our Ameraucana roo pecked all of the skin and feathers from the back of his head, leaving his skull exposed.

Some roosters may get along. Others absolutely will not tolerate other roos. Keep a close eye on them when you put them together!
