Hi all. I've scoured the Internet but I can't find anything. Does anyone have a guide for how much Welsummer chicks should weigh? Like a growth chart for days/weeks? Or just personal experience of how much yours weighed?

I'm a first time chicken mamma, my first time hatching. So I'd like to check their weights against something.

They're 6-8 days old.

It is completely unnecessary to monitor their weight as they grow. You just want to watch for signs of lethargy or stunted development. As long as they are eating heartily, drinking well, pooping well without any signs of pasty butt and active just enjoy watching them grow up!
Agreed. And they grow FAST! Enjoy your babies 🥰

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm just a bit worried because I had a chick die yesterday at 7 days old. He was born on day 21, the second to hatch and was eating, drinking and pooing fine right up until the night before. Then in the morning, he was suddenly weak, lethargic and refusing food. I tried everything I could think of but to no avail. I did help him hatch though as he got stuck halfway through zipping.

The remaining 5 are all eating & drinking well. Active, playing. They're of varying sizes, but there's a mix of pullets & cockerels I think and I had 2 hatch on day 21, 2 on 22 and 2 on 23. So varying ages too, they're 6-8 days old currently. The youngest of the flock is significantly smaller in both weight and to the eye. Though she was a twin/double yolker (twin didn't make it) She recently started with mild pasty butt but the others are clean as a whistle. I'm cleaning her up obviously.

I should add I've only weighed them for the first time today, after the death. So no comparison.
