I have 2 beautiful Welsummer chicks, 3 weeks old. 1 is larger with a smaller comb but turning pink, and back feathers are coming in slower...The other is smaller, more feathering, but her comb is larger but still yellow.....But they are both feathering out the typical hen colors....My question IS, Do the cockerels feather out just like the hens when they are young and THEN change colors into Roo colors, or do the feather out different from the beginning? I am just wondering! Thanks!

My roosters have all feathered in in typical boy coloring. But I do have 1 from another breeder that appeared to feather in female coloring, but had more black on the back than females do.

But regardless of feathering, the comb difference should be obvious. These are 4 week old welsummers, cockeral in front, pullet in back.
