Welsummer or Maran?

I am wanting to add a chocolate layer to me easter eggers and golden comets. I have three young children so temperament is important. We love to hold our chickens. We also go through a lot of eggs, so I would like a productive layer. Which would you recommend and why?

The best bird that would fit your needs and what you are describing IMO would be Marans.

Try both and decide LOL! That way you have best of both worlds LOL!

Just remember that if you're ordering from a hatchery, you shouldn't expect super dark eggs.
