I’d love some feedback on whether my lovely Donna is actually a Don! She’s a 7 week old Welsummer from a hatchery.

She had the nice, dark eyeliner as a chick (below):

She’s been developing a larger comb faster than our others, but they’re also different breeds from her. The comb is pinkish, but is pale at the tip still. Her chest feathers are red, but are darker than a lot of welsummers I’ve seen.

Personality-wise, she’s curious and friendly. Not the first to investigate new things, not aggressive toward anyone. She and Rose even decided I was a good roost while I was standing in their run this evening.

Thank you for any input!

Do you have any side views? And saddle feather views? From what I can see, this looks very male to me. Eyeliner is no guarantee, I’ve had chicks with nice eyeliner turn out male.

I have a young one around the same age, mine is 3-4 weeks. Hoping it's a cock! I think yours is due to black breast feathers and comb color, and golden legs! For me I sex based on wing size sometimes, but mainly by facial features. It has a boy-ish face, adding on with thick legs of that bright yellow. I'd say cock, but I could be wrong.
