So on Saturday I'm getting a 6 month old cockerel from someone looking to get rid of him. I was wondering what the temperament of Welsummers are like so I would know what to expect.

Okay thanks, the person we're getting him from says he's really friendly so that's a good thing. I don't want a mean roo. I rather would raise my own rooster but I don't think we're ready to set up a broader just yet because we still need to fully get settled in from moving here. It's really kinda hard to say... a lot depends on the particular cockerel's personality. Some depends on how he's been raised so far.
I've had two who were really sweet and mellow fellas... my brother has had three who were as mean as sin.

Oh cool. I hope the one I get stays nice. Really the only other roos I've raised were EEs and they were pretty friendly but ended up rehoming them cuz they weren't allowed at the old house but now they are and I'm so excited to finally be able to have a roo legally.Ditto Dat!!
The one I had was a prince!
You and he may be just fine then.....Oh cool. I hope the one I get stays nice. Yeah the lady told me he is nice so that's a good thing. You and he may be just fine then.....
A lot has to do with the keepers behaviors more than the breed, IMO.
Hopefully he was 'raised right'.
