Welsummer x Delaware sex link chick pics?

They are nice looking and whiter than I expected! The six month pic looks almost like my Delaware roos except the neck is more golden. I only kept the Del roos for 5 months, had too many roos!

I appreciate the pics and it's funny that I finally get to see them while I'm collecting eggs to hatch. I hope to have 4 of the Wel/Del cross to hatch, 2 more days to collect.

Hopefully I'll have chicks in a little over three weeks, if I do I'll post day old pics here. Trying out a new incubator so fingers crossed :)

Please do post pictures if any hatch. The brother to this rooster has a neck that is noticeably whiter and I think looks more like a Delaware. I'll try to post a pic of him soon. I was thinking of breeding this rooster back to a Delaware hen. Would the offspring be as productive as a pure bred Delaware?

This is the only picture I have of my rooster, I got him as a chick from Whitmore Farm. I think he was about 5 1/2 months here. I'd forgotten that his tail wasn't solid black. I bet a 3/4 Delaware hen would be a fine layer, my Welsummers lay pretty well too.

I ended up setting 5 Del/Wel eggs. I've only got one hen, she lays some of the largest eggs in my whole flock. The light brown egg in the upper right corner isn't hers. It's a little pullet I added to get an even 20 :)

Her eggs look HUGE!!! I'm excited to have my Delaware hen start laying. But she's only 5 months I think. How old was yours when she started? And what are the other eggs you're setting?

She started laying somewhere between 22 and 26 weeks, I can't remember. She does lay very big eggs! And almost one a day except she took the winter off which is fine with me. The dark eggs are Welsummer, then cream legbar x welsummer, del x wel, and the last row is a mix.

Good luck on getting your first egg soon! My Delaware is a nice girl, she doesn't peck when I'm checking for eggs and she's an all around calm bird :) Wish I had more than one.

So it turns out my little Delaware hen has been laying for awhile and I had no idea!! I let her free range all day and only put her up at night. Well I found her in a small bush today and she had made herself a little nest and it had 5 eggs inside! They are the smallest eggs I've ever seen though. Could this be because she is just starting to lay? Is it possible they will get bigger as she gets older?

They are pullet eggs and will get bigger over time. All of mine were like that as well :) Enjoy them! I've hatched several pullet eggs and they turn out just fine.
