I got them from Anoka farm and feed in Minnesota. I think they get their chickens from hovers hatchery.
Can you get me an up-close picture of a few of their combs from above? Penedesencas have carnation combs so should have a split blade on the back. Another option could potentially be Welbars although they shouldn't have white earlobes and white legs. Regardless, I have looked up where you purchased them from and it does seem to be from Hoover's. Hoover's is infamous for selling chicks and not announcing the breed/variety until the next season. Or this feed store potentially got a batch in from a hatchery other than Hoover's (who doesn't carry any breeds that match their appearance). I'm very curious what they actually are and I'm betting on Crele Penedesenca. They're one of the few breeds with white earlobes that are known for laying dark brown eggs. :) @Overo Mare, look at these!

Interesting. Funny that you tagged me to this - I just saw an ad on my local CL for Crele Pens. I'll take a close look when I get home.

Welp hatchery has crele penedesencas. Not sure if they sell to TSC or farm centers, though. These look a little plump and small combed for that breed, but could just be hatchery quality. Or else some hatchery layer hybrid, of which there are many and more coming in all the time.
