I'm looking into getting chickens from Hoover Hatchery. These are the three I am thinking of getting. Anyone have experience with any or all of these? Temperament? Egg laying? I would also like to get a rooster to go with them. Any idea of a single breed that would go well with all of them, I was thinking an Easter Egger?

PBEs and SGEs are just "fancy" names for an Easter Egger. And Easter Eggers are just a "fancy" label for a mutt that happens to lay a colored egg.

My EEs are all good birds, they are quite hardy, and good layers. They lay smaller eggs than most of my production birds, though. My Welsummers are good layers of some pretty dark brown eggs.

I have lots of suggestions!

What is most important to you in a breed? Colorful eggs, sweet and cuddly, feather coloring, climate hardiness, docile, egg frequency? Then I would be happy to share my thoughts!

Going to piggyback on this thread--for the Prairie Bluebell Eggers, how are they with confinement vs being able to free range. Predator-wise we can't here but have the run would give our chickens 15 sq ft per bird and the coop 10.
