Went to the fair and now can't leave the subject of GOATS alone!

Dog collars work well for walks. You don't want to leave one on a goat when you aren't with it unless it's a break away collar. The goat could get hung up on something with a collar on.
Last year my granddaughter dressed as a milkmaid and they went to a friends house in the suburbs to trick or treat. The goat was well behaved and walked on a leash.
My daughter said, "never again" though, because the goat was the hit of the neighborhood and people were running out of their houses to see it and ask questions. They said they didn't get much trick or treating in because they were swamped with people wanting to pet the goat.
We forget here on the farm that goats and calves and other farm animals aren't something that people see everyday.

We have dog collars on all five of ours. Not only was it fun for us finding the right collar for each goat, but it helps catch the flighty ones for hoof trimming, etc.

YES! if anything, i prefer them wearing the collar 24/7 instead of a harness, becuase their coats look healthier as well as it makes them so much easier to catch!

Most breeders offer free wethers with the purchase of a doe or buck. I do, so you might be able to get a wether to go with your bred doe until she kids. That's an option for you. Wethers, heck even most bucks are really friendly.

I've raised Mini-Oberhaslis in the past. I prefer Nigerians but Oberhaslis would be a good sized goat for you to use for cart pulling. Lamanchas have very good personalities as well.

Oh and by the way, collars can be fatal to goats. Yes about half my herd does wear collars all the time, but half don't. I have had a junior doe, just shy of a year hang herself.

If you get a big wether and harness train him you can get them pull carts so you can ride.

My big does are like ponies they are so big. I am hoping for equally big boys.

You know, I've been worried about extra males. Maybe I'll try my hand at pulling. Maybe I can use him to pull my garden cart.

Teach him to pull and take him to the fair.

There are plans available to build pony type carts and buckboards for goat teams to pull.

No one here where I live that I know of has pulling team goats. Eventually I will have a pair for my son. lol
