Were to get free coop plans?

I am trying to find a place were I can get free plans to build a coop, any ideas?

Seriously though, look at the top of your browser and go to Coop Designs. Lots of people post the blueprints to their coops. Most designs don't need prints though.

Find something you like or try doodling a design that is pleasing to you. Then figure out the dimensions of the footprint, framing, roof overhang, etc. Building a coop is VERY rewarding ("Look at what I made!"). Construction is a whole lotta math and very little art. Measure twice and cut once.

What type of coop are you looking to build? There is lots of good looking coops out there. I can give you the advice of scrolling through the coop&run design index page and look at the many pictures of coops&runs. also on the very front page of BYC you will see a link for coops,you may find ideas there as well. Sometimes the best coop and run is one you build yourself.
My first coop is nothing of any fancy thing but this is what i did it may give you some ideas.
I had a storage shed in the back yard that i kept my summer things in and the pool stuff for the winter. Last June when we decided to start raising chickens I knew i needed to have a coop.
This is how I made my five foot by eight foot coop that housed 8 chickens....
I took two pieces of plywood 3/4 inch and put up a divider wall, separating a tool shed off and storage compartment for the summer things.
Next I went to the local lumber yard and bought some 2x4's (about 8 of them)
I went to the dump and found a small window,door,and some usable pieces of plywood.
I then started the construction process....
I cut out door opening and framed in door with 2x4's (using the free door)
I built a bench at 32 inches high using 2x4's and covered with 1/2 inch plywood (plywood that was free)
built nest box about six feet long and a foot wide and divided up into five separate nesting boxes ( using plywood found at dump again free)
Next cut in opeing for small window and framed this in using 2x4's ( and window was free)
The last thing I did was insulate the walls with insulation that my dad and some other friends gave me. And I put plywood over this so chickens wouldn't eat insulation.
I cut in a pop door to let chickens out of coop just used a piece of 3/4 plywood and bought a couple small hinges.
I also put on a small deck in front of door,made from leftover plywood and 2x4's (about a foot off the ground and it's 3x3 squared.

So this is my coop plan hope this may help you out and hope the advice i gave in the beginning helps as well. I would like to show pictures of my coop but I took it down because my dad gave me his old one.I have pictures of my new coop on my byc page feel free to take a look. Just get a book from the library (or bookstore, if you want to spend money) with plans and instructions on building SHEDS. There are a zillion such books out there. Add more ventilation, a popdoor and roost, and presto it's a coop.

For a smaller, reach-in style coop, get a book with doghouse or kids' playhouse plans instead.
