Is there some place this could be done fairly cheaply? My hens had what seemed like an upper respiratory infection. I treated with antibiotics (Tylan) but symptoms are coming back. Now I worry it could be something chronic.

I'm totally new to chickens, and had no idea biosecurity was of such importance! My pullets are from 3 different places (local flocks) and I got them all as started pullets.

Thanks in advance!

You might try getting ahold of the Washington state department of agriculture. http://agr.wa.gov/FoodAnimal/AvianHealth/

I
would contact Julie Broome:

Julie Broome, CHES
Avian Health Program Coordinator
Washington State Department of Agriculture
360-725-5762

Avian Vets information:

Dr. Lyndon Badcoe
Avian Health Veterinarian
Washington State Department of Agriculture
1111 Washington St. SE
Olympia WA 98504

E-mail: [email protected]

I have found both to be very informed, nice and helpful. Let us all know what you find out please for future reference.

They also have lots of info on Biosecurity. An easy training book and an online printout test so you can get a certificate. I also found lots of pamphlets and posters, etc.
