1st year chicken raiser. Trying to find out if my birds are getting sick. In the coop, I have a droppings board that i throw sweet PDZ on top of. I just raked out all the droppings yesterday and reapplied. Went to collect today's eggs and saw that under 2 chickens, there were some pretty noticeable sized wet spots. I don't know if I'm seeing the PDZ wick water out of the droppings or if I might have some sick birds, and what to do about it if that's the case.

Advice appreciated in advance!

If you can takes pictures next time it happens that would be helpful. I noticed something similar when I used PDZ on my poop boards—it’s basically cat litter so it seems to turn cecal poop into a clump. It might just be that.

Only had the camera flash for light (and not the prettiest picture) but can see how there seems to be large wetspots

That does look excessive. I haven’t used PDZ in a while but I don’t remember it having that effect on droppings. What is your chickens’ diet?

Primarily Purina Layena pellets. If I get home before they've gone to bed I throw a couple handfuls of black fly grubs. On the weekends they're let out of the run to go roam the property and eat whatever bugs they find along the way. And occasionally they get a bit of vegetable table scraps

how do their droppings look outside the coop? If they look healthy elsewhere I wouldn’t sweat it. I see why you’re concerned though.

Is it winter where you are? If the poop board's cold and the birds are dropping steaming hot poops, it might create some extra moisture around it? Just a guess. The poops look healthy to me, otherwise!
