Hello everyone, my silly hens love to be outside when it rains, doesn't matter if it's cold or windy, they always end up wet. Are yours like that too? Do you others even let them out into the rain? My coop isn't that big so my girls will go crazy if I don't let them out, I also have a lot of hides and trees, where they could take shelter but they.. just don't.. :barnie
I'm just afraid they'll get sick since it's getting colder and colder... Any advice for a worried new chicken owner? Thanks!! :)

Here's mine out and about on a 40F degree day last winter: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/wet-hens.1442537/#post-23932868

I have also seen them out foraging in the run between the rain bands of passing tropical storms.

I figure that once they are fully-feathered and are no longer baby chicks they can choose what conditions they want to experience. They have the option to be dry and out of the wind inside their coop or in one of the other shelters in the run. If they choose to be in the rain I figure that they know how to be chickens better than I know how to be a chicken. :)

I might think differently if I had chickens with non-standard feathering -- silkied or frizzled.
