wet chickens

i thought this would be the best place to ask, i got a small group of bantams one of the hens is really mean so i am keeping them in a large dog kennel. its raining daily here at the moment and im getting out between the downpoors and repairing a small covered coiup for them untill i get a larger area to put them in. we are keeping them covered but my daughter was with them and steped away for, they got about 10 mins of rain so they are wet, not soaked through but definitly wet. i dont want to bring them in the house as im afraid they would get chilled and then a cold

. is there anything in particular i can do for them? i do not want them to get sick, they are adorable little things.

How old are they? If they are still chicks, I would bring them inside to get dried off. Grown chickens can handle being wet just fine. Mine stay out in the rain all the time, even in early Spring when it is really cold.

they are full grown, but TINY!! my daughter is just in love with them. Im going to set up a building project with her, we are going to build an octagon coup for them. will be great to teach her some math with angles and also hammer, nails and my power tools.

we did clean out the cage and put dry bedding in with them, i slipped them back under covering to keep them from getting more wet.

In THIS weather (unless you're blessed to be somewhere cool/cold right now) they will be fine if they're grown, even though they're small. My girls will walk around in a light rain and get soaked through and through sometimes. Now in cold weather, it's another story...

well, i got the small coup cleaned out and am letting it dry out before putting bedding and the chickens in there. i took off the old roof which had no over hang whatsever and put a new one on with about 6 inch over hang so will definitly help in keeping it alot dryer........ and its raining AGAIN OMG!!!..... hopefully this will stop and the little coup wont be soaked still this evening and i can move the little banties to it.

it rains a lot here too and my bantams almost always get soaked, even though i have a huge picnic umbrella in their coop to stay under! they are quite tough; unless its like 40 degrees dont worry they will be dry and happy when they can

It seems as if my chicks got an improtue shower when putting the water feeder in the cage.

Their feathers are all wet and matted. It has been 2 days since the event and their feathers are still matted together and dry.

Is there anything I can do to get them back to a nice fluffy chick condition?
