It depends. No water the first 14 days would create larger air sacs than if you had water. As long as the air sacs are not too big then your perfectly fine doing it.What happens if you dont put any water in the first 14 days??and lockdown you do will it be any different
By the time you reach lockdown the air sac has already formed so the higher humidity doesn't matter. You need the high humidity during lockdown to keep the membrane moist. If the membrane dries out it will shrink and stick to the chick. This will prevent him from being able to turn inside the egg and zip.
I always add water during lockdown. I want my humidity up around 70%. The people that do "dry" hatches still add water during lockdown.
