So, I was so proud of myself yesterday, finishing up the 6x8 pen for my 25 meaties. I made a cool trough feeder from 7.5' of vinyl gutter, screwed to the wall of an adjoining shed. On the back side of that wall, I used the space in between studs as "grain bins " and made a system to feed grain into the trough from outside the pen. I filled it up and it works SLICK! WOOHOO!
TODAY IT RAINS BUCKETS! The seal between the roof of my pen and the shed roof above is not so good. I get some water running down the wall between the shed and the pen and right into my fancy new trough feeder. OH THE DEFEAT! But, I look around the homestead, come up with some strapping, some asphalt shingles and a tube of silicone. Instant flashing! I got everything sealed up but the damage was done.
Long story short, SOME of my feed got wet. When I say some, probably all the wet feed would fit in a half gallon jug. Do I need to skim this out and throw it out or can I just let my meaties eat it up?
I will post pics of my setup once it stops POURING!
