Advice/help needed!! Our chicken coop REAKS. It smells like a rancid poop and pee slushie. Sorry to be so descriptive. The coop is really long and narrow (25+ ft. x 6ft. x 7ft. tall), doesn't have a roof (it is our side yard, so we have arched shade cloth as the cover), and the ground is a thick layer of straw over the initial dirt. The front half of the coop is where the misters are. They go off from noon until 4pm. I think the problem is that there isn't enough time for the ground to completely dry out by the time the misters go off the next day. So it's soggy wet most of the time. It's so gross. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue we have? Note: I live in Arizona, so we really don't have this problem other than in the summer, when the misters HAVE to be on for long periods of time.

EDIT to add: When it does rain, they do have places to go inside the coop for protection (several hutches, the overhang from the roof, etc. They aren't left in the rain. ;) )

It's straw not hay, but I see what you're saying. I technically could because we have the room, but he is so happy living with the chickens. He even has his own hutch that he has dug.
