i saw some articles about frost bite on combs and wattles and that dog dishes were bad for that.. so i watched my roos drinking out of a heated waterer and they get their wattles wet anyways.. we have below freezing temps for quite a bit of time in the winter and tons of snow.. what should i do to prevent them from getting frost bite. the coop is insulated. the water heated. but they will be going out when we snow blow the run. and after seeing water dripping off them i am afraid they will get frostbite on them

I was thinking about this too. My BO, BR and buttercup get their wattles wet when they drink out of the normal chicken waterer.

ETA: Can you put vaseline on their wattles? (Seems like it would be more difficult to do than the combs)

hmmmm .. there is a lady in here who makes chicken saddles.. wonder if she could make a snow hat like those things you see on show dogs so they don't get food into their hair and ears? just a thought lol
