Hi All,
frow.gif

Tropical Storm Lee is making its way through our area and dropping a huge amount of rain.
That being said the chicken pen is a absolute soggy mess. I am talking the water
is coming up out of the ground and puddling in the pen.

My concern is will this much water in their pen make them sick?

Is there anything that I can do after the rain stops to prevent any illnesses?

This is the first time we have had rain of this magnitude come through our area since
we started keeping chickens. Has anyone else been down this road before? What did
you do to keep the ladies heads above water?

Thanks fellow BYCers.

I've never lived where it floods, but when my chicken's bedding in their coop gets soaked I replace it. I don't worry about outside in their runs. Hope this helps!

Hi All,

The pallet idea is a great ideas but I do not have any or cement blocks.
I will however make sure I get some for the next major rain system that
we have coming our way.

The coop is 4 feet off the ground so the ladies are dry and the water is
not getting into their coop.

I am just worried about the condition of the pen. Will this much standing water
in their pen make them sick?

Thanks all

Hi All,

Still waiting for some replies on the chicken
pen flooding.

In particular will standing water in
their pen make them sick?

Is there anything I can do after the rain stops to reduce
illness if that is even a concern?

Thanks

Just a little concerned why the bedding in the coop is
getting wet?!?!?!

When it storms around here if their windows aren't closed sometimes the rain blows in and makes their bedding wet.
