I wasn’t able to find anywhere on the internet how much a silkie chick at 6 weeks should weigh so I decided to ask here. I am battling a case of coccidiosis with the chick’s mom and I am treating them all currently with corid to end it. My silkie hen has lost a ton of weight, she’s at 540g (525g a week ago today at the vet)
right now and we’ve made it a point to track her weight gain. I wanted to know how much should a 6 week old silkie chick weigh so we could bring if it was affected by the coccidia what its goal weight should be.

Here they are in the hospital pen

I weighed our two Silkie chicks at thirteen (13) weeks (3 months) and they were at 1# - 8oz and 1# - 8.5oz, or about 680 and 690 grams.

If working backwards, that would have made them about 1/2 of those numbers at six (6) weeks of age...

Makes sense, chick’s about 205g this morning. I’m assuming it was affected by the coccidiosis like mom so we’ll track the weight gain but I also think that they put on more weight the older they get.

Probably, and an exponential increase in weight as they age makes sense... :)
