This past week all 4 of our girls (7months old) started looking a little rugged above their tails. We figured they must be starting to do a fall molt as the weather got cold fast. However, yesterday we were distraught when we found one of our girls with some bleeding and a bald spot. We thoroughly inspected all the girls for any signs of pests to find nothing. We picked up Vetericyn plus, antimicrobial poultry care to treat the girl with the bleeding. Also picked up so Durvet “No Pick’n” hydrogel spray. My questions are, first, can I use these two sprays together? But more importantly, what the hell is going on with our girls?? (They are all acting normal)(scratch &peck feed) pictures of the girl with the bleeding/bald spot.

Behavioral feather picking, sometimes caused by boredom and/or roost time antics. Sometimes impacted by nutrition.

Is there a cockerel/rooster in the mix?

Some birds will molt their first fall. Many will not. Sometimes nutrition will impact this.. too many treats or higher protein needs.. what is the protein content of your feed and standard feed routine, including treats and supplements?

I see the one picture is an Easter Egger. What are the other breeds in her flock?

Are they still laying eggs?

All 4 Easter Eggers. 3 have been laying for about 3 weeks now. Still laying this past week. They have their food (16% scratch&peck) available all the time, as well as oyster shell and grit. They’ve been getting some scratch for a good morning snack, but not the past few days. I believe this to be a diet issue as we aren’t finding feathers in the coop or run. No roosters.
