What’s that!

So I’ve been lambing/kidding for 13 years and I’ve not ever seen this. This little goat is due to kid for her first time in the next 2-7 days (her actual due date is Jan 19th). When she stands up on a block to eat this comes out. When she stands normal she’s fine. Kids/kid are still moving about inside, I felt them today. Anyone had this before? Seems like she’s just bulging a bit from the kids, but it’s concerning. View attachment 2485465View attachment 2485466
Please contact your vet! This looks serious

I think they can ? I think most species can. I was going to say it looked like a prolapse too (I just experienced one with a quail tonight so fresh on the mind) but the fact that it sometimes goes back in and on it’s own is quite odd, no?
Yes, the fact that it all goes back in when she stands normally makes me go “hmmmm”. Prolapses don’t normally go back in. And vaginal prolapses don’t looks like that that I could see. Could be the beginning of bad news. Will just have to keep an eye on it.

It looks like a prolapse to me. I am not at all sure exactly what is prolapsing. It looks like vaginal wall rather than the cervix. If she was my goat I would have her seen by a vet. Since she is so close to kidding I would induce labor. As I remember we used a combination of lutalyse and dexamethasone for that. I had goats for over 40 years, but my experience with prolapses is just about zero.

Yeah definitely strange! Honestly though I think I’d get to the vet sooner rather than later since you don’t want to wait till it gets really bad and possibly lose mom or the babies or both. I don’t mean to scare you and it may end up being fine but I wouldn’t risk it.

TIme for the Vet, that looks like a prolapse. While it may go back in by itself, if something goes wrong and something twists inside, it could be very life threatening. especially if there are children inside you really don't want to take any chances. If the trip to the vet is going to be a big hassle, with loading / unloading bla, print that picture and / or e mail a vet and they may be able to tell you what to do, can do, perscribe something over the phone etc etc.

Its worth a try if you can do that w/o a goatie road trip.

That’s a good idea. I’ll send a pic in and see what they say.

(Disclaimer: I don't know a lot about goats in particular.)
I see people have already suggested various kinds of prolapse.

I can think of one other thing that could stick out: amniotic sac.

I googled for images, and each of these pages has some:
http://darylconner.blogspot.com/2014/05/
https://growingsmallfarms.ces.ncsu.edu/growingsmallfarms-farmphotofeb1306/
(I just kept scrolling down until I saw photos of goats with things sticking out of them.)

Based on the photos I found, I think an amniotic sac is probably NOT what is sticking out of OP's goat. But I'm mentioning it in hopes that someone with more experience can be more definite one way or the other.
