What’s wrong with my roosters comb?

My roosters comb is black. Is this blood or did he just get into something? I was able to grab him to look at him and he doesn’t have any injuries or anything. I can’t tell what it is. I just got home from work and found him like this. All my chickens are perfectly fine and I don’t have any other roosters.

It looks like dried blood to me. They can have fights with hens too. Or maybe he just got it caught on something. Most comb wounds heal really fast but you could clean it and put some neosporin on it if it worries you. :hmm

It looks like blood to me too. He probably was just pecked on by another chicken. I doubt it was a predator. Do you have more than one rooster?

I agree that he has either been pecked a lot on the comb or he has injured it on something sharp, such as wire fencing or sharp edge of something. It will eventually heal on it’s own. Just make sure that the hens are not attacking him for aome reason, such as being sick.

I’ve been keeping a close eye on him and none of the hens have been pecking him :) I’ll just keep watching him and look around the yard to see if there’s anything that he could’ve injured it on
