Gee Whiz, do you ever get the feeling that you aren't living right???????????? Our DS has had a little boy mouse for FOUR years, which is unusual because they have a two year life span . . .he passed at the beginning of last week. Sad, but not heartbreaking, as we knew his time was limited. Then, a week ago today, a big brown lab that runs from one end of our little town to the other, got ahold of my Onyx and threw him around like a rag doll, playing with him. Neighbor saw it and said she tried to call me, but we don't use our house line anymore, so didn't get the message. Onyx comes limping back in, bloody and bleeding and i was getting ready to go to work, so made him a bed, cleaned him up and made sure he was warm and cozy. Didn't appear to be too bad, and he was very responsive. As the day progressed, DH gave him water through a syringe and he was fading by the time i got home at 5:30 and died about 10 that night. Internal hemorrhaging is what it appears to be. I was so upset, as he was my baby and had itchy skin and we doctored that and I babied him because of it . . .just a sad deal. Then, DS got the cough. Cough, cough, cough, cough. Not sick, but oh that irritating cough . . .then Saturday, Frank our Pug disappears. Lots of people in and out, I was at work at the Real Estate office, so not there to run interference to keep the dogs under control, and we think someone stopped and he jumped right in their car. He LOVED everyone. DS is heartbroken over Frank . . .then Sat. aft. the sore throat started in on DS. Took one look at him the next morning and didn't think waiting 24 hours was a good idea, to get into the doctor's office, so away we went to the ER, and sure enough, 103.2 fever and strep. DH has one of those fever things you run across your forehead, but either the batteries are gone or someone dropped it and isn't talking, because it showed low temp. So, got him all situated and back home and Monday night the ferret died!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not totally unexpected either, as she was old and not too perky the past few months, but still the timing was terrible for DS. This week has gotta be better!!! My glass is ALWAYS half full no matter what, but this was a little hard to take. Making flyers to hang up for Frank. He was intact, about 18 months old is our best guess, as he was given to us, and has two fresh scars from being attacked by the same brown lab 2 weeks ago, so ID'ing him won't be too hard if someone did take him. We have went from one end of our tiny little town to the other and there is no Frank, so we are sure he was dog napped. What a week!!!
