The family is in mourning this morning. Something got in and wiped out the entire broiler flock, the new pullets, and one of my laying girls, 31 in total - the broilers were going to the processor in two weeks. Almost over a year and a half with no issues.

I went out to feed everyone this morning and four of my BR hens came running (what? out of the run? what gives?), clearly agitated, I never saw them act that way before. Now we know why.

Everything's cleaned up, now building the new and improved lockdown facility begins.

thanks everyone, I guess what is done, is done. Time to move on. At least we all got to play with the little buffs last night one last time. We had trimmed their flight feathers, so my girls have a little package of feathers to remember them by.

I'm still teary eyed.

Yeah, they were heading to the freezer soon, but oh the waste.

Do you know what got into them? I'm betting dog(s). Either way, it or they will be back. So sorry for your loss, hope you catch/eliminate the culprits.
