Thank you all for the welcome and the input! Micheal, you just confirmed what I already suspected. Sad, but I knew the risk when I bought the straight run chicks. We have lots of Hawks, so I didn't want white chicks. I wanted ones with a little camo. A friend is taking them and I'll just look around for pullets for sale. It has been a great experience raising them from chicks. The 4 black Austrlorps that I gave away are happy in their new home. They ended up being I hen and 3 cockerels, but boy are they very pretty! The Barred's have been very friendly. The smaller one climbs right into my hands to be picked up and taken to the chicken tractor out in the yard! I'm sure along the way I'll have lots of questions. It's great to get so many answers and encouragement !
