Having just gone through my first hatch I've heard from some breeders that if certain things look a certain way or this or that then it's a roo or a pullet...and I was thinking that it may be cool to get the collective brain together and put together a chick breed list with possible sexing identifiers, much like we have breed info for our adults.Pictures included

Of course I know that many breeds will not show signs either way till 6 weeks +, but even then it can be hard

What do you guys think?

If we have a consensus...Nifty can you help out with information/pic gathering?

This is a great idea. I've been searching previous posts in my spare time to try and find out if some of my slow to feather chicks are male instead of the female I ordered since I've been worried that I'll have a ton of roosters. Found out (whew) that my dark brahma, despite lagging way behind on feathering with no butt feathers at all, is indeed a female due to barring on wings. I can't find other breeds that I have, so a one-stop shop page for the breeds would be great!

it's amazing to me how lmuch knowledge the breeders have that can give us clues to sexing and while it may not be fool proof it's some info, which is better than none, in my opinion!

I like the idea. I'll take pictures weekly. So far... my first chicks are girls, lets hope it stays that way!

The breeds I have are 3 Welsummers, 1 Copper Marans, 2 each of: EE, SS, Partridge Rock, Salmon Faverolle.

It's a good idea, I'm surprised it hasn't been done before. I'll subscribe to keep getting updates.

we need help with the info gathering, preferably from breeders as they have seen alot of what they may call standard or usual
