I was thinking it might be helpful to have a sticky post in this section, where people could contribute the feed ingredient lists that they get from the bags of different brands of feed. Since the company never seems to want to tell you anything.

I could contribute Blue Seal, Purina, and Nutrena layer feeds.

I am particularly interested in Poulin, since I'm possibly switching to them from Nutrena, because they're a smaller company and I found that "dried bakery product" is the fourth ingredient in the Nutrena layer feed. Bakery products aren't something I would even want to give my chickens as a treat.

So is anyone else interested in doing this?

*Wonder what they mean by that?? Have you euer checked with the company to find out what they mean by 'dried bakery product'? Sounds like it could be anything from wheat hulls or flour, to powdered milk to leftover ground uncooked bread dough!!

I haven't checked, but according to this article, Dried bakery goods is "a mixture of breads, cookies, cakes, crackers, flours and doughs, which has been mechanically separated from non-edible materials". I'm assuming that "goods" is the same as "products".

ibpboo, thank you for the contribution, now all we need is a mod to make a sticky thread!

I just bought a bag of Nutrena “NatureWise Layer Pellets” yesterday. The ingredients are the same as listed here except without the dried bakery product.

Nurtena 'Country Feeds' 16% Layer Crumble'- first 4 ingredients are:
Grain Products, Plant Protein Products, Prossesed Grain By-Products, Animal Protein Products...
I like the fact that it has 'animal protein products' in it since chickens are omnivores, not total vegetarians! :)
I also provide 'Faithway 22% 'Super' Layer Pellets'- first 5 ingredients are:
Soybean Meal, Corn, Wheat Midds, Plant Protein Products, Prossesed Grain By-Products...
My chickens LOVE these pellets! :D
I don't like most Purina products. The first ingredient in Layena is 'Processed Grain Bi-Products', that tells me it's a high cost product that is of much lower quality. :( Layena is $15.99/50lbs here in Roswell, Ga! Nutrena CF is 13.99/50lbs, and Faithway is even cheaper. :)
I see that some people say that Nutrena has bakery products? The Nutrena feeds down here in my neck of the woods don't have any of those in them at all. Weird, huh? So, I guess they use more localized ingredients?:/
