what about feeding chickens mice out of traps?

Sometimes mice figure out how to get into our feed cans, no matter how careful we are (especially when someone FORGETS to lock the lid down tight).

My husband will catch them in a can and throw to the chickens. They have a wild time. Rarely does a mouse make it out!

He throws the trapped ones outside, and our free range chickens make quick work of them.

Cats' intestinal worms are different species than chickens'. I know that some cat worms do have mice as an intermediate host, but fifteen minutes with google and a coupla books off my shelf still has not turned up any CHICKEN worms with the mouse as an intermediate host.

OTOH that's not a very thorough job of research

and there is also the question of non-definitive hosts (worms get into the 'wrong' species, and even tho they may not complete their life cycle there, can still cause harm) which I have no idea whether any mouse-transmitted parasites can affect chickens.

Anyone know?
