Does anyone feed their chickens pineapple.... in moderation? I didn't see info on Buff's Snack chart about it.

We're making a huge fruit salad and I have all kind of scraps, but wanted to check before we gave it to them.

Thanks,
Kim

I've given mine pineapple. They didn't really care for it the first day, but it eventually got eaten (they may have had help from the dogs).

I tried to give my girls pineapple when I first got them. They didn't like it, nor do they like potato peelings, but LOVE avacado and oranges. Then, I discover that none of these things are overly good for them.

Chicken-mama, only the avocado skin can be harmful in quantities, not the avocado meat (except that it's high in fats).

Thanks everyone!

I have a medium size bowl filled with scraps of canteloupe, melon, strawberries, & pineapple. I just wanted to make sure before hubby fed it to them. Maybe I'll take the pineapple out to be sure.

For now he's just given them the rhine of the canteloupe & melon, so they can pick the rest of the fruit off them. They are having a chicken party.

I'll save the rest to give them another day. I don't want to give them to much at a time.

Thanks,
Kim

A little at a time can't hurt. They may absolutely love but not know it yet. Ours get things sometimes that they have never had before. After a little while thet figure out " Hey this is really good!!" They may not like change but once they figure out it's good watch out!!
