What about roosters being ruff?

I am thinking about getting a rooster but have heard that they can be ruff with hens! If he is going to hurt my hens and bother them I am not going to get one. I have 11 hens and maybe will get one or two more is this enough to stop the roo from hurting them? does every roo mate rough or just some? I was maybe going to get a pure ameraucana rooster are they typically rough? I would love to be able to sell fertile eggs.

I keep one roo for every 15 hens. As for being rough, they are only doing what comes natural. They pull a few features sometimes. If you get one that likes to spur, you can keep the spurs clipped, this will help.
