What about using fake eggs to get ducks to lay in certain spots?

Does the majority of egg-laying-duck-owners use wooden or fake eggs to get their hens to lay in a certain place, like a nesting box? Or do people usually just find them to collect them?If ducks can be trained this way, can you stop the fake-egg-placing and they'll keep being cooperative from there?

It will work, if you don't do that then they will just lay them were they fall

i must have lucked out, my ducks took to their nest box right away. Now granted the bury them in the nest box and i have to go a diggin' but i can reach in there.

Mine slept n a covered play pen until they were 6 months old. Now they sleep in an uncovered pen, so maybe that's why they go into the covered nest box...

One of my ducks started laying and picked one particular spot. When the next started, she would just lay right next to the other egg. Now all 3 are laying and they put them all together for me. My ducks are so considerate

hee hee hee my ducks also use 1 nest, if 1 makes 1 they all use it!
i am going to be trying the old wood egg trick also. i would like them to all lay in the duck house.
