What about using fake eggs to get ducks to lay in certain spots?

Does the majority of egg-laying-duck-owners use wooden or fake eggs to get their hens to lay in a certain place, like a nesting box? Or do people usually just find them to collect them?If ducks can be trained this way, can you stop the fake-egg-placing and they'll keep being cooperative from there?

i must have lucked out, my ducks took to their nest box right away. Now granted the bury them in the nest box and i have to go a diggin' but i can reach in there.

Mine slept n a covered play pen until they were 6 months old. Now they sleep in an uncovered pen, so maybe that's why they go into the covered nest box... [IMG]

One of my ducks started laying and picked one particular spot. When the next started, she would just lay right next to the other egg. Now all 3 are laying and they put them all together for me. My ducks are so considerate [IMG]
