I read somewhere (?) that they're considered "adults" when they're a year old. But they're pretty much full grown at around 7 or 8 months. They just mature into even greater beauty after that.

Some breeds take two years to fully mature and fill out. I think of it a bit like people, who can reproduce at 12 or so, but they're not even full size yet.

To me, full grown is a year old. It's when females are actually called hens (any younger and they're "pullets") and the males are actually roosters, or cocks (any younger and they're cockerels)

But in terms of bodily growth, heritage breeds should naturally take anywhere from 1-2 years to grow.
