What age can you handle chicks?

Is it ok to put them together this soon if I run and grab one tonight from tractor supply?

It should be fine. Just watch for a bit. There will be some pecks while everybody figures out "what is this thing that appeared?!"

Tractor supply has a minimum purchase that is based on state law. You won't be walking out with one. In my state, 4 is minimum. Some states are 6.

Do you think that he will be ok for a couple of weeks until I can get another chick about the same age? How do I find a chick young enough to put with him?

If you are comfortable posting your general location, someone on here could be nearby. Or farm stores (google feed store and then ignore any hollywood feeds, petcos, etc if in a city). Tractor supply, rural king, etc also often have them. Or Craigslist has worked for me before when we needed an “emergency buddy” one time
