What age can you sex guineas at

Well I use those perdy neon zip ties of course, lol. Hot Pink for Girls, Electric Blue for Boys! (That's just for my keepers... for my sale birds I use yellow and orange, lol). I use the itty bitty ones for the babies, and the normal size for the older birds... like around 6 weeks old. I put em on so they fit loose on the leg to allow for growth, but not loose enough to come off over the foot, that way I only have to snip em off with fingernail clippers every few weeks or so and put new ones on as they grow. Once they reach 10-12 weeks their legs are pretty much full grown and they can wear the same one for 6 months or more unless they come apart and fall off

(Some people worry the birds might get hung up on something with a band like this on their leg, but I've banded both keets and adults like this for years with no one ever getting hung up on anything).

they're probably 3-5 weeks old and i was listening to there vioces and there is at least on female and i'll have to listen to the other 2 but i know at least on of them is a male

I usually separate a few at a time into a cage for a while and then sit and watch them, I move the cage out of sight but within earshot of the rest of the flock... this usually makes the little Hens "buck-wheat" their tail feathers off. I make sure to have a squirt bottle of water handy and spray the "buck-wheater" and get her back wet enough so that I can easily ID her to catch the right Guinea when I open the cage and reach in

Then I band a leg and put her back in the pen with the rest of the flock

I just came back from a feed run for the horse and goats. Took some time to sit with my guineas..... and Now I have three Females.... Week before last I had one last week I had two now I have Three BukWheat voices in my little flock of eleven. Woo Hoo. They are at about ten weeks now..... If I am going to notice more voices I suspect I have another two weeks or so. My first eleven were about three or four days apart age wise. The Single lavender is a full week younger than the rest....

Oh and I discovered something If I set and whistle a soft low note they all Shut up and give me the STINK EYE....

I am a first time guinea owner (mine are about 9 wks old)and I'm pretty sure I have at least 3 females (out of 6) if I listen to their calls.
I am not going to bother banding them. They're just my pets and to help eat bugs around the place. To me their call sounds like, "Pi-cack , Pi-cack.. But my hubby will love thinking of it as "butt crack butt crack".

So thanks for that. lol

I know I didn't love it at 7 o' clock this mornin' after hubby let them out and they were under my bedroom window pa-cack-ing their little hearts out.

The only reason I want to band is I have two sources of guineas one local from Cracking Up.... and one from Northern California.... Thanks PeepsCA. The ones from San Diego are older and I want to be able to ID them once every one is growed up. Just my way of observing differences between the groups. Identify who pairs off with who and generally enjoy the flock dynamics.... and hopefully sell a chick or two or eggs... who knows. I am far far away from that for sure.

LOL, way back when I first got my original 7 Pearl Greys years ago I was told (jokingly I thought!) that they would find my bedroom window first thing in the morning. That next spring sure enough... noisy Guineas butt-crackin their tails off outside my bedroom window at 6 AM like clockwork for weeks, lol.

I punched the guy in the arm that gave them to me, and told him that was for jinxin' me, lol
