I have a Pilgrim goose who is about 5 months old, when can I start expecting eggs from her?

Hi

I would think you can expect your first eggs in early Spring around March.

My goose is the same age, I'm expecting her to start in february, since the weather here in california begins to warm up/turn into spring around then. I wish geese were more like ducks in that respect, my ducks are laying and have been since august, but man-I'd flip for a goose egg right about now.

March sounds good, just in time to start hatching them!

Thanks for the replies!

I was told geese don't lay until the second year. I have an Ebden goose who will be 3 this spring and haven't gotten a single eggs from her yet. I'm sure it must vary with breeds.

Perhaps in the spring. Some geese lay as yearlings. But a lot of geese don't lay eggs until they are two years old. You may have a long wait.

I'm crossing my fingers for next year!

Mine (White Danish) started laying in January on her exact 7-months birthday (hatchday?).

She's started again now and is laying the largest eggs I've ever seen: the egg from yesterday was just over 10 ounces!
