My hubby is building me a new larger coop with a run and I want to get more hens to add to my 3 layers. I'm not sure how to introduce them since I let my 3 adult hens free range most of the time. But from what I've read, it should be ok since the new coop will be new to all. So, I'm wondering what would be the safest age of the new additions. I don't want to go out 1 morning and find a dead one or one that's been beat up. I'm so new at this and am learning a lot from being a BYC member and appreciate all the well written articles and advice. I need all the help I can get

! Pleased you joined us! I don't like to introduce mine until they are least 1/2 to 3/4 of the size of the adult hens. Not sure exactly what age that would be. Good luck to you!

I also wait to integrate until the chicks are close in size to the adult birds.
