I have some 3 month old and up. And of course it is winter here. I am purchasing chick grit for them. what age should they start getting it.?And should i put some right in there food. ?

Grit should be offered free choice from hatching. If they have access to the outside, they will get their own. You can probably feed adult grit to 13 week old chicks.

Forgot your second question. With really small chicks, it is easiest to sprinkle it on food like salt. I try putting it in small containers in their brooder too, so they have free access. For 13 week old chicks, you could pick up a small feeder and fill that with grit. You might be surprised how much they eat of it at first. Don't be alarmed, chickens will not eat grit and forget to eat food.
