My 20 week old rooster is turning out to be a good one I think. He used to eat in my lap, but this soon stopped after I had to start chasing him and the flock out of the front yard. Now, he hears when I call and starts towards my voice even when he can't see me. He brings the girls (5) and they follow like dogs and wait for the food. He always finds stuff for them to eat, and they're catching on really quickly to his call. Sometimes he even gets real loud as if demanding they come while still sounding sweet. He seems to get flustered when they don't listen. I've also seen him lay down in the leaves in a few different spots as if he's finding a spot for them. (?) He's always got an eye on the sky as well. At night, he sleeps with the 2 top hens while the others sleep on a different roost. For about 2 weeks though, he was a bit hormonal and was always grabbing the hens. They screamed a lot, but now things are quiter. He has danced in front of me a few times though. I've had to pen them up as they're being relocated closer to the barn so that they hopefully won't wander to the neighbor's. There's tons of stuff for them to do at the barn anyways. The neighbor has chickens, and this rooster is always answering the neighbor roosters. All in all, I think I've got a good rooster, but are there any other little jobs he should do for the hens?
