What am I? All white mystery hen.

I think I have all my chickens identified except for one. My pretty little girl is about 2 months old. My others girls are jersey giants and brahmas, I believe. Maybe someone can confirm that for me too.


1. My mystery hen.


2. Light Brahma? I have five of these pretty girls.


3. Black Giant? This handsome fellow was sold to us as a "Black Giant" so I'm pretty sure that is what he is, however all 11 (except for the red rooster) were supposedly black giants as well and even I can see that isn't right. We also have three other hens like him.


4. Is he a Rhode Island Red?

You are for sure correct on your Light Brahma. We had three and loved them. So pretty, fairly friendly and very entertaining to watch. They run everywhere they go! As far as your Black Giants go, they may be. We have some, but ours are much smaller. They could possibly be Austrolorps, too. They have the White wing feather when they are young.

I would say they are more green. Especially seeing it next to legs that a definitely grey like on my black giant (if in fact she is a black giant). The rest of her is hidden in this pic but you can see the color of the leg pretty well. Hope this helps.

Your white girl might be an Easter Egger. Is her comb very flat? our light Brahmas are light Brahmas, not sure on the blacks, other people are good at telling what those are. Your red looks like a Production Red, sometimes called RIR or NH by hatcheries interchangeably. Our feed store just calls them red layers.lol

I think your white one, is mostly likely a EE with those green legs. Beautiful!

That light bramha looks like a boy. Shouldn't have that much comb and wattle development at 8 weeks.

The white one is a White Jersey Giant. Thos have Willow green legs.
The Blacks are Black giants
The red is a Production red or New Hampshire cockrel
and the white black is a light brahma cockrel

This very heavy white variety of the Jersey Giant breed was developed from white spots of the Black Giants, and is a comparative newcomer to the ranks of purebred standard chickens. As the name implies, it is primarily a meat bird of extra large frame. A little slower to mature than Rocks, Reds, and other more common heavy breeds, it will eventually surpass them in size and weight. Yellow skin color and white plumage make an easy fowl to dress. Distinctive features in addition to size are the dark willow color of shanks and toes, and the very dark brown eye. Mature hens are very large and good layers of brown eggs. The adult birds have a tendency to show some dark or gray ticking on an occasional feather, and both the chick and adult color are the result of the fairly recent development of this variety from the Black Giants.

I agree that the white one looks like a White Jersey Giant, but I can't see the comb in any of those photos. If it has a pea comb, it is an EE. Single comb, Jersey Giant. The black ones are also Jersey Giants. You are right about the Light Brahma, and that one does look like a cockerel. The red one looks like a New Hampshire, RIR, or Production Red.
