I’m stumped on this one so I had to take it home to find out what it will be. It was in with Marans, Gold Laced Wyandotte’s, and bantams but it looks standard size. It was the only one with a crest. Even it’s comb looks interesting but I can’t really tell what kind it is yet. It came from TSC (Hoover’s). I’m aware of the the pasty butt. I noticed it as I was taking this picture and it’s all cleaned up now

Could it be a bantam? Here it is next to my standard size chicks. It is maybe a little smaller

I got a better picture of the nostril and comb area in natural light. What type of comb is this?

The more I looked up this chick the more I’m convinced it’s a crevecoeur. Hoover’s does not sell them so I wondered where it came from. Well I was in my local TSC today and talked with one of the guys there and asked if they got chicks only from Hoover’s this year. He said that this season they have been getting them from at least 3 different suppliers. I think Ideal was mentioned but can’t be certain. I did look on their page and they breed Crevecoeur. So I’m really thinking that’s what it is. Can anyone confirm? I know it’s a rare breed so many may not be familiar with it.

Update: still no confirmation on this guy. I am thinking best guess would be a crested La Fleche but I’ve not come across many of them. I haven’t ruled out crevecour but without the beard la Fleche seems more likely. 2 weeks later I found another one just like this with the bantams and polish. So now I’ve got two. Hoping at least one is a girl as I think this one may be a boy.

Oh my goodness I LOVE the mohawk!

That's a cool chicken. I think it might be a beardless Crevecoeur. I don't think La Fleche have such large crests. Even though Crevecoeur are supposed to be bearded, I could see some beardless ones popping up from hatcheries. I hope you end up with a pair 🤞
