One week ago I had 12 Texas A&M quail. I am down to 2 and one looks like it might die. There little legs kind of look swollen and they limp around. They are still eating but then just dying in the middle of the night. I already told DH I don't ever want A&M's again. Maybe Bobwhites next time. Is there something I can do to save the last two? Is it the feed I am giving them. It is medicated game feed with 29% protein.

You say they are limping around? Are you keeping them on wire? Could be bumblefoot infections. Check the bottom of the feet for swelling and infections in the pads. If so, get them on some soft bedding...grass hay, pine shavings, etc...Keep them there till the feet heal up.

Also, have they been wormed recently? Even birds kept on wire can need a worming occasionally, especially if they are getting bumblefoot. Too much poop around.

Bobwhites are not easier to keep. So I wouldn't go there unless you are ready for some drama.

what bedding are you using.
They are not on a bedding they are only on wood flooring.

It is not bumblefoot I checked. I have medicated feed I didn't know that they needed wormed. I have never had a chicken or duck die but these darn quail are testing me. I need an easy to keep quail that gets fat enough to eat. LOL

Wood floor. This is probably your problem. Wood harbors tons of bacteria as it is not easy to clean. You probably have a bacterial infection running thru the flock. You need to use bedding on your floor if you are going to continue with wood.
