Oh they are fantastic egg layers! I have 2 BSL hens and they lay wonderful, large, brown eggs!!
Very active chicken, and does better as free ranged, but as long as it's outside it don't matter. Here is a picture of my BSL and their eggs.

Oh, trust me you won't be disappointed. They are very friendly, and have sweet personalities. You should post a picture of the chick when it gets older, so I can see how much it's grown!!

Also, they start laying at about 4-7 months old.

I have a 2 month old BSL pullet. She's a crazy brave chicken! She runs into the adult chickens and steals yummy morsels from them, then runs off and avoids the other chicks to eat her stolen treats.

I had no plans of getting a BSL on purpose. She came in a mixture of 5 pullet chicks from Ideal and I was disappointed with her, thinking she would be solid black. After a little research and watching her antics, I actually plan on keeping her and really enjoy seeing her about
