It looked like a chipmunk when it was a chick. Can someone help me out with possible breed and gender?

How old is this chick? Where did it come from? I don't see any definitive signs of it being a cockerel just from those pictures, personally. 🤔

There are a few things it could be, but my guess would be some sort of hatchery layer hybrid. Knowing where the chick came from will narrow down those possibilities.

8 weeks old and I got this one and 7 others from tractor supply. They were all “supposed” to be cream legbars and all looked the same when chicks, they all have crests except this one and one other that are completely different. I’ve been researching Hoovers hatchery and have determined that there’s no telling what I have 😂.

Ah, the good ol TSC special, huh? 🤭

Unfortunately, that means there's a lot of possibilities. Off the top of my head, she could be an olive-egger, starlight blue egger, prairie bluebell egger, and I think they have calico princesses as well which is another possibility. You may have to wait until she lays so we have her egg color as another clue, unfortunately. But I do think she's a pullet at that age and with that little comb development. 🙂

Starlight green eggers are a hybrid that has a spectrum of possible appearances. They don't all look very similar to one another like a true breed would. 🙂 Unfortunately, Hoover's only has one picture of a pullet on their listing for them, but you can see from the different colors in the chicks they show in the listing that they aren't all going to look the same.
