Does anyone know what this hen might be (tan multi colored) she showed up out of nowhere and never left. Also does anyone know what these other two could partly be? The are out of the hen and a neighbors rooster just not sure which one.

She looks like some kind of game breed in a Mille Fleurish coloration. Possibly some sort of American game. Is she dubbed? I see no real comb or wattles on her.

Dubbed? Im new to fowl and terminology. But no she does not have a comb or wattles. She is flighty and highly frighted except when i feed her corn cobs lol.

Dubbed means the comb and wattles [and sometimes the ear lobes] are surgically removed. It is mostly done to roosters because they have bigger combs. it is to prevent frostbite and injury to the comb of large combed birds and [historically] in fighting breeds to give the opponent nothing to hold on to, and is also part of the breed standard for many breeds of now solely ornamental gamefowl, though usually only for mature males.

it looks like the black offspring does not have much of a comb either, though, so maybe she never had all that much. Unless that one is very young and has yet to grow something.

Why can't pretty hens like that, that also go broody, ever just wander into my yard? I want one, too!

Agree with above, she looks to be a mix, with a lot of game blood. The black chicks looks female and the barred chick is male.

Agree with the hen being a game or mostly game mix. She has a pea comb, that is why she has such a small comb and not much in way of wattles. Hens normally are not dubbed anyways.

also agree on sex of the two young ones. on re-reading, since this hen is the mother, the rooster has to be colored like the black and white one. Also has to have a beard because at least the boy has a beard. It's because the black/white coloring and beards are both dominant genes and the mother has neither.

it is common for games to be very excitable.

Thanks everyone i was beining to wonder about being a game bird possibility. We are looking at getting some new chicks but we might have to build another new home for them.
