What amount of space do my chickens need

I always forget how many square feet in the coop,run,roosts, and nesting boxes the chickens need. I think it depends on the breed of chicken but what is the general rule.

4 square feet per chicken for coop floor space, two feet of roost per bird, and a nesting box per every three birds.

I am not sure.... But I can see how that would be true. I mean, if it is really snowy then you are just going to leave your hens in the coop instead of letting them forage in the snow so they need more space.

You could always build a run for your flock if you're worried about the snow. But four square feet is the general rule.
