Now I understand there are some ugly people out there, and a Flounder might be better looking than some of them, but picture the prettiest/handsomest woman/man you can think of. Then think of an animal that is prettier and tell us why you think so.

I'll start off........we went to the zoo last Monday and running loose all over the place were peacocks and peahens. The peacocks were all India Blues and they were trying to impress the ladies.

They strutted, fanned out their tails and did a comical little dance. They were beautiful. I can't think of anybody any more beautiful than those peacocks.

Generally speaking, males are the prettier peacocks.

Be that as it may...Have I seen anyone more beautiful
than a peacock?...You have apparently never seen a
Julia Roberts movie.

At the same time I'll have to agree that even an ugly
animal is prettier than some people. (and that Spandex
doesn't help...one size fits all isn't right) But pretty much
any animal in it's native habit is a wonderful sight.

IMO.... any animal is prettier than a human. Animals are better company too

Tigers, horses, elephants, some spiders, birds.... look at a snow leopard; the coloring detail in the fur coat, big beautiful eyes. A fox; the red shine in the fur, the adorable face. A wolverine (yes a wolverine); the thick dark coloring of the hair coat, the form and way it carries it's body, big brown eyes, fuzzy brushy tail.

There are too many reasons to list that explain why animals are more beautiful than humans. IMO

I guess I buck the trend but, I don't think the most beautiful animal is better than the most beautiful human. I think humans especially babies are the best works of art. Many posters on BYC put up photos of their babies and children and they are often breathtaking. But that's me.

I tend to find rough and tumble and natural looking people and nonhuman animals to be the most beautiful of creatures. The horse breed I found to be prettiest of all was described by the breed book as "homely and plain".

Being a horse lover, of course I think they are the most beautiful creatures alive! Every time I am driving up the drive past my horses pasture, I am just in awe at their beauty. Oh and that gentle bright look in a horses eyes when he sees his momma coming with treats- Love that! But in general, I have to agree with mtngrl812 and say most animals have more natural beauty than humans. (in their lifestyles and appearance)

Spook, the over-stuffed sausage look doesn't do it for you?

This question is an apple to oranges type of set up. I think there are ranges for all creatures. I have seen some mighty good looking women as well some pretty scary ones. The same could be said for men, I am secure enough to know a good looking guy when I see one and some down right butt ugly guys too. For me I feel I fall right in the middle of the pack(sad but true). The same can be said for creatures as well both domesticated and wild. Seems that avians tend to be lured by the good looking mate with the best colors(usually the male) and the female gets to make the choice. Why is that anyway? Looks matter less to most other creatures beyond humans. Taken this thread in another direction here. Comparing humans against animals is like pairing up a Maserati against a Mack dump truck.

If there wasn't ugly in the world there wouldn't be phrases like:

"A face only a mother could love"
"Beauty is only skin deep"
"but ugly goes clear to the bones"
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

Well, I'm not much on 'pretty', but I find that most animals are nicer than most people.

Spook, I agree on Julia Roberts. I find her to be strikingly attractive - second to the Princess of course.

Stumbled upon a nude beach way long ago while walking on Assateague Island

- most people should keep their clothes on.

I usually prefer animals over people. And I agree about the peacocks, I think they're gorgeous!

This beautiful boy was showing off at the zoo and I couldn't help but take a picture! I'd love to have peafowl.
